A UAE-based photographer has travelled the length and breadth of the country to capture time-lapse shots of the emirates during the height of summer.
Lewis de Mesa, who works in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Media, was commissioned to create the video titled ‘UAE Summer’ as part of the organisation’s Ramadan programming.
Travelling hundreds of miles during shooting, de Mesa took in the sights of all seven emirates including stunning shots from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the UAE’s highest peak in Ras Al Khaimah.
The equipment de Mesa used to shoot included a Canon 5D Mk III, Mk II, 7D; Canon EF 14mm f/2.8; DP Stage Zero and a Stage One dolly.
Talking about the sometimes inhospitable conditions of summer shooting, de Mesa posted the following on his Vimeo page: “It’s a tough time to shoot outdoors in the UAE as the weather is mostly hazy, some occasional sandstorms, temperatures can reach up to 50°C during the day time with a dreadful humidity of 80-90% range. So, the best time to shoot (without collapsing) is sunset and at night.”
